Thanks to our loyal customers, donors, and volunteers, 2025 was another great year for the Palace Theatre! During the year the Palace hosted 28 events with over 2500 in attendance. The 8 movies in the Palace’s 2025 Film Series alone drew on average 155 people per film and 248 folks braved the cold weather for Storybook Holiday’s showing of Miracle on 34th Street. We loved watching classics like Fantasia, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Dr. Strangelove on the big screen with our friends and families.

In 2025, the Palace also partnered with other community organizations to bring events to Main Street. Highlights included:

  1. An evening of Maryland Heritage Award documentaries; one of which featured Frostburg’s Derby Day
  2. Hosting the opening night documentary and a fantastic wrap up concert as part of the Appalachian Festival
  3. Working with Frostburg State University’s Cultural Events Series to bring the New Orleans based jazz street bandTuba Skinny to Frostburg for a sold out concert
  4. The FSU Center for Literary Arts’ 16th Annual One-Act Play Festival

It was another busy year!

In addition, the Palace Board is thrilled to report a major milestone for the theatre itself: the new roof is on! Thanks to the incredible generosity of this community and the matching grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission, we successfully completed the auditorium roof replacement this year. The new high-quality EPDM rubber membrane, along with new soffit, gutters, and downspouts, will protect the Palace for decades to come. We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this possible — your investment in the Palace is an investment in the heart of downtown Frostburg.

With the roof behind us, the Board has turned its attention to the next phase of improvements. This coming year, we are planning several projects to enhance the filmgoing experience. At the forefront are goals to upgrade film audio to surround sound and the projection to the industry standard Digital Cinema System. As the project scope, cost, and timeline become clear we’ll keep you posted.

While we work towards these improvements, the Palace is pleased to announce our 2026 Film Series (see insert). Take a look and make plans to spend a Thursday evening in Frostburg having dinner, shopping, and taking in a great film. This year at the Palace we’re stepping back with a 20th century film and moving forward under a new roof!

The Palace’s continued success relies on people like you, who continue to support us every year. So, thank you! We’re so proud to be part of a community that values the arts, and we look forward to working with you for many years to come.

Sincerely,

Frostburg Palace Theatre Board
